Sempervirens Design

SEMPERVIRENS LANDSCAPERS They create totemic benches, supported by growing trees; these form a collection of living sculptures designed to accommodate uses and to inscribe time in space. Their principle is based on the phenomenon ofplant anastomosis - natural fusion of woody tissues between branches or trunks - allowing the tree to gradually integrate the structure into its own structure.

Quartzite slabs, chosen for their mineral density, durability, and tactile quality, form the seating. Polished on their upper surface to offer comfort and a soft feel, they appear to be suspended and supported by native species – willows, beeches, even plane trees – whose growth accompanies and slowly transforms the composition.

At the intersection of plant and mineral, these installations embody the allegory of a welcoming nature: no longer mere decoration but a load-bearing, protective, and inhabited structure. Over the decades, the thickening of the trunks, the phenomena of anastomosis, and the maturation of the forms will transform these sculptures into unique arboreal figures, ultimately constituting a living heritage – remarkable, sculptural, and centuries-old trees.
